It is looking like the Habs have made an offer to J.P. Dumont a 2yr/4m$ contract. The Kings have shown an interest, the Thrashers, Senators, Maple Leafs if they can't sign Carter, Penguins and Vancouver Canucks have all shown interest. But the Habs are the front-runner, but was it means for the salary cap situation of Montreal. If they sign Dumont at 2 million$ they will pass the cap at 45m$. Petr Sykora is heading to Edmonton, well there's a 50-50 chance that he might head there as soon as 3-4 days coming.

Anson Carter is willing to drop is asking price of 3million$ per season to maybe 2m$ so he would meet with the asking price of the Red Wings. But the Red Wings are willing to trade for a goaltender such as Martin Biron before getting Carter.

Maxim Afinogenov is scheduled to make 5million$ plus in a 1yr contract. So it means he will be traded. Because i don't think that Buffalo can afford him. They still have Ryan Miller to sign. By signing Tallinder to mutiyear deal with Pominville, Lydman and Briere making 5million$ and Drury making 3m$ a year, it means that Afinogenov is a goner. Michael Ryder on his way out?

It is looking like the Habs will trade Michael Ryder if they lose their arbitration case. Everybody knows that Montreal still lacks a big forward likely a righthanded center. And they will be pretty much close to the cap if they sign Ryder to a 2.5m$ contract.

Washington still looking to get to the 28m$ cap floor. They are looking at Viktor Kozlov, Petr Sykora and Montreal's Radek Bonk.

Anson Carter might re-sign with Canucks if he don't find a competitive offer elsewhere. But Detroit is looking him as well as the Leafs and the Kings.

Boston wanted to sign Brendan Shanahan to 2y/9.8m$ contract before he sign with the Rangers. Now they still wants some help up front. They looking at Radek Dvorak.

Simon Gagné is not close to a contract with the Flyers and now, Bob Clarke is looking to trade him if they don't sign him before the training camp in September. Columbus might be an option with Nikolai Zherdev going the other way.

Mike York has been awarded a 1yr/2.85m$ contract and the new GM Garth Snow has 48 hours to accept or refuse the ruling of the arbitrator. And if he refuse, Mike York will be an unrestricted free agent right away. Daniel Briere from the Sabres and Mark Smith of the Sharks are expecting the ruling of the arbitrator in the next couple of hours. We will keep you updated shortly.

Anson Carter could return in Vancouver. I'm learning that Detroit, Toronto and Minnesota are in the race.

Petr Sykora is believed to be in Philadelphia's radar and Edmonton's radar.

Viktor Kozlov could sign a contract with Washington Capitals next week.

Montreal would only be interested in trading David Aebischer if he can receive a big righthanded center in return.
I'm also hearing that Sheldon Souray never denied a trade demand and could be heading to a Western team. Teams like Vancouver, San Jose, Los Angeles, Phoenix and Colorado and Dallas have a great interest.

Detroit are interested in one of the San Jose goaltenders Nabokov and Toskala, in Montreal's Aebischer and Buffalo's Martin Biron but Buffalo's asking price might be to pricey.

Scott Gomez might win his arbitration case against the NJ Devils so his salary might be at 6m$. So the Devils will be forced to trade him. The Flames, Coyotes and Oilers have an interest in him. About that blockbuster last night, the 3 way trade:
To Edmonton: Brian Rafalski, a draft pick
To Phoenix: Scott Gomez
To New Jersey: Mike Comrie, Marc André Bergeron and draft picks and prospects
This one would help the Devils to have breathing room under the cap.

Nikolai Zherdev signed a contract with a russian superleague team called Khimik but his agent and GM Doug McLean are still in negociation.

Some players like Petr Sykora, Viktor Kozlov, Jason Allison, Manny Legace and Anson Carter are still available but it might be over the next few days.
Petr Sykora has received offers from Boston, Chicago and Washington.
Viktor Kozlov has received an offer from Washington.
Manny Legace still interested the Pittsburgh Penguins and St.Louis Blues.
And Anson Carter has Detroit in his mirror and Toronto and LA has some interest.

I am hearing that the Habs have offered Souray, Ryder, a prospect and a 1st rd pick to San Jose for Patrick Marleau and Kyle McLaren

The Leafs are talking to Anson Carter for a potential 2 year/4m$ contract.
